SpaDental Plymouth supports the Armed Forces Covenant to show appreciation to the dedication of the men, women and families who serve. We acknowledge the value of a strong co-operative relationship between the civilian and military communities of Plymouth.
What is the Armed Forces Covenant?
“The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise from the nation that those who serve or have served in the armed forces, and their families, are treated fairly.”
The covenant promotes opportunities for local organisations, businesses and individuals to appreciate the dedicated service of the armed forces. It is a vehicle for the civilian community to recognise the men, women and families who serve their country.
The covenant highlights key areas for consideration:
- education and family well-being
- having a home
- starting a new career
- access to healthcare
- financial assistance
- discounted services
SpaDental Plymouth supports families who serve, or have served, in the armed forces.
The key areas from the covenant that SpaDental aims to support are access to healthcare and discounted services.
Both veterans and members of the Armed Forces Community may apply to the Defence Discount Service for a Defence Privilege Card. Holders are entitled to discounts online and on the high street from companies supporting the covenant. Cardholders* can contact us to learn more about our support.
Access to Healthcare
- Rationale: One of the challenges of service life, is the requirement of mobility. Often families live in one area for a short term and then transfer to another location. Even if the posting is for two years, it may not be possible for dependants to access dental care as waiting lists can be lengthy.
- Our accommodation: Our dedicated SpaDental Armed Forces Plan, means that private care is accessible at a reduced cost without having to join a waiting list.
Discounted Services
- Rationale: While veterans are entitled to priority NHS care for conditions related to their service, the provision does not extend to routine dental care needs. Under usual circumstances, veterans wishing to re-establish access to routine dental care would need to either join an NHS waiting list or attend privately.
Our accommodation: SpaDental* offers patients the opportunity to become a SpaDental Armed Forces Plan patient.
- The advantage of joining the SpaDental Armed Forces Plan is to spread the cost of regular oral hygiene and dental appointments over the year.
- The SpaDental Armed Forces Plan is offered at a lower rate than other dental plans and includes attractive discounts on preventive and restorative dental treatments.

- At the moment, only SpaDental Plymouth has a process in place to offer a discounted plan.
- The offer is extended to holders of the Defence Privilege Card issued by the Defence Discount Service only.
