“First visit to SpaDental and everyone was very welcoming and friendly, our dentist [name] was brilliant with my 5 and 2 year olds making them feel very comfortable and explainedto them everything he was doing! They enjoyed their first visit and will have no fear when returning for their next checkup.”

We promote preventive care for children
Whenever we can, we try to prioritise the registration of children as NHS patients. Unfortunately, we have full books, but if there is a space we try to register more children.
If children can get into the habit of going to the dentist when they’re young, then they are more likely to keep their healthy teeth for life. Our aim is to promote preventive care for children.
During a regular check-up, a dentist systematically checks teeth, risk assessing them according to nutrition and home oral hygiene habits. Children receive fluoride treatments as necessary and sound advice and follow up on preventive oral hygiene routines.

Looking after little teeth
We encourage you to bring your children for check-ups, as growing teeth need regular attention to ensure they stay healthy and problem-free. Baby teeth start to appear when your child is around six months old, so this is the ideal time to bring them for their first visit.
To help make things easier, many of our practices hold special Children’s Days during the school holidays. This means you can bring your children to see us for a check-up without worrying about them missing any lessons!
The practical guide to children’s teeth published by the BSPD is an excellent resource to help you care for your children’s teeth as they develop.
Please note:
- Some SpaDental practices only offer private care. We encourage parents who are either SpaDental Members or Guests to ask about arrangements for children’s appointments.
- Practices providing NHS care register children when space is available, and maintain waiting lists. Although the practices prefer not to add children to a waiting list, sometimes it is unavoidable.
