Meet Lorraine and Kim!
They are our new reception team at SpaDental Plymouth.
Lorraine Allen MBE
Joining us in November 2017, Lorraine’s wealth of customer service experience spans over thirty-four years in the public sector.
Lorraine’s career includes managing local job centres and government-funded projects. She was awarded an MBE for Customer Services.
After taking a seven-year career break to help look after her grandchildren, Lorraine has returned to work. We are fortunate to have her at our reception desk!
Lorraine’s hobbies are Latin and ballroom dancing, but her passion is collecting dollhouses which she enjoys with her grandchildren.
Kim Newton
Kim joined us in December 2017 and brings to us many years experience as a receptionist.
As Kim has worked in various dental practices we are fortunate that she is able to bring to her new role a high level of patient care understanding. She is passionate about ensuring patients leave with a smile.
In her spare time, Kim is a keen baker with skills in sugarcraft. She especially enjoys making decorative flowers. She also enjoys knitting and helping look after her grandchildren.
Give them a phone, our new reception team will be happy to help you make an appointment!
What is the role of a Receptionist?
The role of a receptionist is like being a juggler!
Usually, the first person a patient sees at the practice is the receptionist, so it’s important to be able to multi-task.
There are so many different things to do: answering the telephone to book and cancel appointments; filing dental records, x-rays and referral letters; handling money; answering queries from both patients and dental professionals; organising the appointment diary and generally ensuring patients have a smooth journey through their appointment. Our reception team is always busy!
Being a dental receptionist can be a difficult role sometimes, particularly when trying to help with patient queries, especially when someone is nervous. It is an essential and important skill to be able to communicate with everyone, patients and other staff, and be able to put people at ease.
Carol is happy to have Lorraine and Kim form the new reception team. Everyone at SpaDental is looking forward to working with them!
