Investing in patient care with new technology
Every dental examination involves a careful study of the teeth, lips and soft tissue of the mouth. Your dentist will take time to look and probe carefully to check your oral health. Many oral examinations also involve an x-ray, to get the best picture of your mouth.
Although our dentist and dental clinicians are the key element to our great patient care, equipment matters too.
SpaDental Whitchurch has invested in new image processing equipment to be sure we can get the best picture of your mouth to plan your treatment. Not only are the images clear, they’re sequenced and recorded.
How do x-rays help improve oral health and treatment procedures?
- they reveal tooth decay
- identify problems such as: bone loss, gum decay, abscesses and gum disease
- help to show up spacing issues with erupting teeth in children and young adults
- are used to plan procedures such as: dentures, implants, crowns and bridges, orthodontic treatment
- can show up cysts and some tumours
Are dental x-rays dangerous?
- the level of radiation is very low
- dentists will only take x-rays as needed to inform treatment
- higher risk patients, smokers, for example, or patients with gum disease need x-rays more often
