Little people deserve great dental care – Whitchurch

At SpaDental Whitchurch we believe that little people deserve great dental care. Therefore, Hannah and Jo are reaching out to our local community to make sure it happens!

It’s all about clean teeth!

Last week Hannah Parsonage (dental nurse and practice manager) and Joanne Roberts (dental nurse trainee) had a fabulous visit to Little Bears Day Care.

They chatted with the children there, and showed them how to clean their teeth, using a model and an electric toothbrush. The children loved trying to guess how many teaspoons of sugar are in different drinks, and learned about making the best choice between a healthy snack and a sugary snack.

Their talk was so successful they’ve been invited back to talk with the children under two year’s old on Wednesday July 4th. Parents are invited along to this chat too. We hope that parents will take the opportunity to ask questions about dental hygiene routines and healthy eating. It’s a topic we sincerely care about.

Parents, teachers and those of us working in dental care, want to help young children to have great teeth for life!

Hannah and Jo share some basic tooth care tips with children in groups. If you’d like them to come and talk to children in your local school or nursery, just get in touch with SpaDental Whitchurch. Or if you have any questions about access to dental care for children contact the practice.

Little people deserve great dental care.

Please remember that all children need to visit a dentist for expert care and advice.

We encourage parents or guardians to get in touch with a dental practice. A chat in school can only be general. It’s important that children get individual attention from a dentist and/or hygienist.

To make an appointment for children, SpaDental Whitchurch is registering babies and children as new patients. Currently adults are added to our waiting list for NHS registrations. We are recruiting an additional dentist to meet the needs of our growing practice.

In line with the NHS Starting Well campaign, we aim to register more pre-schoolers. NHS England is asking dentists to see an additional 70,000 pre-school children over the next year. The aim is to ensure that children do not have to suffer the unnecessary pain of tooth decay. A parent or guardian can contact the practice to make an appointment for their child.

We believe that all children have the right to access excellent dental care. The NHS recommends a first dental visit at six months old.
