We really want to look after your kids’ teeth in Whitchurch. We believe it matters, and can make a life-long difference.
We’re out and about!
We’re trying to help young children to know how important it is to learn to look after their teeth. Sometimes, as parents, we need a little bit of extra help to get the message across. Your dental clinicians can help.
Last week Hannah and Jo took time out of the practice to visit the Whitchurch Preschool Nursery. Today they’re visiting the Little Bears Day Care Nursery. Their focus is to educate youngsters about oral hygiene.
Hannah and Jo have fun helping the children understand the importance of teeth. They show them the best way to brush their teeth, and quiz the kids about food and drink that’s good, or not so good, for their teeth.

It’s important that parents also know they can help their children. Good care from an early age usually ensures excellent oral health throughout their lives. A healthy, low-sugar diet combined with good dental care can prevent most cases of tooth decay.
There are two key steps:
- Supervise a regular toothbrushing routine twice a day at home.
- Take your child to the dentist every six months (or as the dentist recommends).
We’re registering children now.
NHS England is asking dentists to see an additional 70,000 pre-school children over the next year. The aim is to ensure that children have every opportunity to have great teeth for life.
In line with the NHS Starting Well campaign, we’re registering new babies, children and teenagers as NHS patients. A parent or guardian can contact the practice for an appointment, without having to join a lengthy waiting list.
As far as dental health is concerned, we believe that all children have the right to access excellent dental care. Therefore, we try to register children as young as possible, preferably soon after their first tooth has come though.
