How do I know it’s a safe injectable treatment?

Fine lines? Thinner lips? Tired skin? There are plenty of treatments that can make a difference to how you look and feel, that offer a quick lift. But before taking the plunge, make sure you are having a safe injectable treatment.

If you do decide to go for the plunge, take time to learn about what you’re letting yourself in for. There are a few checks it’s worth doing before you decide to have a treatment.

Make sure your service provider is registered.

You can check the professional status of clinicians who are registered to practise in the UK on these websites:

The aim of establishing professional registers is to protect the public.

There are also voluntary registers that aim to protect the public.

As the demand for safe injectable treatment increases, new registers distinguish clinically trained professionals from service providers who may not have adequate training or experience.

To this end, the Joint Council for Cosmetic Practitioners (JCCP) has established a voluntary register with stringent requirements and a Code of Practice.

The JCCP believes: “Many non-medically and medically trained Practitioners are performing treatments that are considered to put patients at risk without the necessary supervision.”

The JCCP is working with the Cosmetic Standards Practice Authority (CPSA) to safeguard people who choose non-surgical cosmetic treatments.
