We believe ‘if in doubt, get it checked out!’
Attend regular appointments with your dentist.
During regular dental check-ups, your dentist will also look at the soft tissues of your mouth for warning signs of mouth cancer. If the dentist sees something that needs further investigation of course you will be advised on the next steps that are necessary.
If you have noticed a lump or swelling on your lip or inside your mouth, or you’re concerned about a change you’ve noticed, then call to arrange a priority appointment.
Prevention is key.
As adults many of us have struggled with habits we developed when we were younger. Educating young people about risky life-style choices can be tricky, but sharing information is important. If we can be good role models, and encourage children to enjoy healthy life styles, then that’s even better.
Take your own action against mouth cancer too.
Patients can help themselves also by keeping a regular check on their head, neck and mouth. A quick check for symptoms on a regular basis can help to catch cancer in the early stages.
Just this one action against mouth cancer that takes less than a minute could literally make a life or death difference.
