Educate for life – exercise and food choice matter.

School meals are still a hot topic.

School meals have changed for the better. Media focus on the benefits of a good school meal means that the standard of school dinners is definitely much better now than it used to be.

Nowadays, schools are serving meals that are not only tasty but healthy too. As parents, we can be confident our children enjoy a delicious meal as well as benefiting from a health perspective too. As dentists, we thoroughly support a move towards nutritional values that will keep teeth and gums in good shape.

National School Meals Week  begins today. It’s organised by the Lead Association for Catering in Education. They are a strong voice for the school catering industry. Events around the country aim to promote awareness of healthy eating and exercise.

Children need food to learn, and also need to learn about food.

Healthy eating is a topic dear to our dentists’ hearts! We can help children learn how to make good food choices.

Dentists see first hand how children suffer from tooth decay and rising levels of obesity. Therefore, we try to promote understanding of nutrition and good general health, as well as oral health. Encouraging children to make good food choices at home helps them make the right choices about what to eat when they’re at school too.

Dental Checks for Children

Bring your child to visit the dentist as soon as you can. We recommend a trip to the dentist after a baby’s first tooth has come through, and before reaching a year old. It’s very upsetting if their first appointment is for a dental emergency or to have a filling.

SpaDental Chard, Plymouth and Whitchurch are all supporting government initiatives to enrol more children as NHS dental patients.
