Wishing you all the best for 2019!
Resolutions are only made to be broken. Every new year article will tell us pretty much that. It’s sustainability that really makes a difference. So the best thing to do, is to decide which life-style changes we can make, work on and improve, then keep up throughout the year. So here are our top 5 best dental habits. Most of us are already practicing at least some of them, which makes obtaining our optimum oral health even easier.
Top 5 best dental habits.
- Brush. Sounds easy, doesn’t it? But many of us don’t brush for the full two minutes, so set a timer. Follow a strategy too, so that no area is missed. Some of us also brush too soon after we’ve eaten. It’s best to wait about half an hour for our tooth enamel to strengthen again. And, when the time’s up, spit, don’t rinse, as it’s good to keep protective fluoride on our teeth.
- Floss. We know that no-one ever really tells the truth about how often they floss. Just do it, though, at least once a day. It’s a good idea to keep an interdental brush handy too.
- Visit the dentist regularly. If you already have an upcoming appointment for 2019, add it to your calendar now. If not, then set a reminder to book an appointment, especially if you haven’t been to the dentist in the last six months.
- Seek professional help to solve problems. Whether it’s sensitive teeth, feeling self-conscious about yellowing teeth, an uncomfortable gap or bleeding gums, don’t leave your oral health to chance. Once again, make an appointment to see the dentist. Relying on over-the counter products or on-line help won’t have the same impact as support from your dental team.
- Work on general health. This is the big one! This includes giving up smoking, reducing alcohol, eating less sugar and fat, as well as exercising more. Life-style changes really do make a difference. They don’t happen overnight, and take focus determination and effort. But it’s worth it. Having a healthy and fit body, is good for our mind and good for our teeth too. Give it a try, as there’s only One You!
Very best wishes to you all from the SpaDental team. We sincerely hope that you’ll have plenty to smile about during the months to come!
- Holiday greetings from us all!
