About Louis
Louis grew up in Devon and began his career as a dental nurse, before qualifying as a dental therapist. The University of Sheffield and the British Society for Dental Hygienists and Therapists (BSDHT) recognised his outstanding professionalism.
A dental therapist’s skill
Dental therapists support patients’ oral hygiene and deliver some dental treatments too. A key role of a therapist is to work with patients to establish regular oral hygiene appointments and establish effective at-home routines promoting healthy gums. Within his scope of practice, Louis is also qualified to perform tooth whitening, as prescribed by a dentist, place fillings and extract primary teeth.
Patients can see Louis without having to see a dentist first
Booking an appointment with a dental therapist helps make regular preventive dental care affordable.
SpaDental practices in the Southwest offer direct access to appointments with a dental therapist. This means that so long as you are not experiencing dental pain, you can make an appointment with Louis without having the additional expense of seeing a dentist first.
Of course, if Louis spots a concern that needs a dentist’s attention, then he refers his patient to a dentist.
What our patients say:
“First time that I have been treated by a dental therapist. I was very impressed, as I was with all the staff.”
“The therapist was very professional and we are both pleased with the results.”
“I had reservations about getting a filling done by a dental therapist but actually I found him excellent. Really good.”
Patient care
Sensitive to how people feel, Louis always puts his patient’s needs first. Louis takes time to get to know his patients, and asks a lot of questions for better communication and understanding. He likes to understand how his patients think to build a positive approach to oral health. His approach to dental therapy is holistic because working together is important so patients achieve their goals.
