Shropshire’s dental team with the most qualifications?

We think our team at SpaDental Whitchurch must have more qualifications per head than any other in Shropshire!

Meet our four dentists qualified overseas furthering their careers by adding Master’s degrees while they wait for the General Dental Council (GDC) to provide the opportunity for them to become registered to work as dentists in England.

Knowing the challenges facing parents as they struggle to persuade children to brush their teeth regularly and make healthy choices, SpaDental has gathered an extremely well qualified and experienced team. All four of the SpaDental Whitchurch team pictured above are dentists qualified and experienced in their home countries; all four are now applying for registration as dentists in England.

Dental Therapist Abel Adeosun

Abel Adeosun, qualified as a dentist in 2013 from a leading university in Nigeria and worked there before relocating to the UK, earning his Master’s degree in Public Health (MPH) at the University of Chester.

Abel is registered in England as a Dental Therapist while waiting for an opportunity to take the Overseas Registration Examinations (ORE) to practice in England as a dentist. As a dental therapist he provides preventive dental and periodontal care to children and adults, places fillings, reconstructs damaged teeth and offers aesthetic bonding as appropriate. A father of a young family, Abel is an excellent choice to guide your children towards improved dental care.

Abel is supported by three other dentists who also trained overseas.

Husband and wife, Gopakumar (Gopan) Maniyan and Nissi Sasi, support Abel in the surgery and on the reception desk at Whitchurch. Both qualified as dentists in India before moving to England. Gopan qualified in 2012 and has an interest in orthodontics but is unable to treat patients in the UK until he has taken the ORE and is registered as a dentist in England.

Nissi enrolled on a post-graduate degree at the University of Edinburgh Napier to study Healthcare Management and attended her Master’s degree award ceremony earlier this month, having qualified as a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from the Rajiv Gandhi University, Bengaluru, in 2016.

For ambitious professionals, achieving a dream comes at a price. Moving to a new country and gaining additional qualifications is costly.

Moreover, there is an emotional toll to pay too. Nissi and Gopan are fortunate they have the support of their family in India who are caring for their two children, but they were apart for two years before being reunited this summer. They shared a joyous few weeks together again.

Practice Manager Bashayier Ahmed is responsible for four SpaDental practices. She is based in Tewkesbury and has become an expert on English public transport! Qualifying as a dentist from the University of Lahore in 2020, Bashayier is also an impressive linguist, adding Arabic and French to her home languages of Punjabi, Urdu and English. The University of Coventry recently awarded Bashayier an MSc in Global Health Care Management.
