Private dental treatment
I am very satisfied with the service. However on a personal note I’m not sure how sustainable it is for me to continue with private treatment as I’ve retired early and don’t get a state pension yet. I think understand the free nhs dental treatment is not sustainable but feel there should be a way to solve this problem

During the last eighteen months many appointments for both my husband and I have been Cancelled and it has been left to us to take the initiative to rebook these appointments.

I normally fear the hygienist as I have sensitive teeth but I was pleasantly surprised with my visit. Extremely helpful, polite and attentive. No need to fear the hygienist ever again!.
Taken for granted and charged for the priviledge
I was contacted by the practice several days ago and ask if I could move my check-up appointment to another day in order to accommodate their staff holidays. I agreed and asked if they could fix a recently broken tooth at the same time as the new appointment. They agreed and booked me a longer appointment so that the work cloud be done together with the check-up. All seemed fine until I went to my appointment, and was then told that I needed a 40 minute appointment instead of the 30 minute one the receptionist had booked, so I would have to come back another day. My dissatisfaction was ignored. I was presented with a Treatment Plan showing what the broken tooth repair would cost and asked to sign it. Then to my surpise I was asked to pay half the cost up-front (this seems to be a new practice that I have not encountered before). So, having interrupted a busy work schedule to accommodate their staff holiday I have ended up paying the practice over £100 for 5 minutes ‘in the chair’ and a wait of 5 weeks for the work to be completed. By comparison, another member of my family had a similar repair completed for almost half the cost, no up-front payment and it was completed within two days – maybe there is a lesson there.
Routine appointment with Hygienist and 6 month check up by dentist
Excellent care and advice from the Hygienist. Satisfactory routine check by the dentist who is seeing Mrs. Higgs’ patients.

My old dentist in Essex always saw emergency patients same day you ring if early rang at 830 am Monday morning.New to area could not explain were in high street surgery is??? Then after saw dentist had to pay 50% of cost for rest of treatment up front not impressed after I have finished will not be back.Also X-ray and sink all out of date had much more modem equipment at last two practice’s in Isle of Wight and Essex . I went on my daughter and family recommendation but they see different dentist at practice.
Have been a patient of Greg Martin for a number of years and followed him to Tewkesbury as I trust him to give good service
